Using About the Print: Journal Covers

Creating journals and notebooks with our intuitive web to print platform is a breeze! Printing your books with About the Print is as simple as uploading a few files. No hassle, no stress!

Design journal

Product templates can be found on our site for each of our print products, if you don’t already have something similar. These templates already include a bleed and guidelines for the spine and edges. All you have to do then is build your perfect design from scratch or from something you’ve already got at your company.

Uploading

Once your design is complete, save it as a PDF and take it over to our site. Your file should be designed with bleeds, but have no extra lines on it, or that’s how it will be printed.

Select the product for which you have built your design from our site options. Click the red Upload a File button, and your file should upload!

Check the preview on the left of the screen to make sure your image aligns properly. Your image should extend to the edge of the preview to account for the bleed.

Enhancements

Once you've uploaded your design and made sure that it looks right on the preview, you can choose other elements to make your journal stand out!

We have a couple of drop-down menus from which you can select pages and lamination for your cover. Our page options are all 70#, with white, lined, or blue grid paper.

We also have matte or velvet (soft touch) lamination for your cover. Either option is great, but velvet gives your cover a soft, touchable texture that’s excellent for clients’ products!

Want to include digital foil? We’ve made that simple, too! This tutorial for Tektured explains how to create an extra file for digital foil that our MGI machines can read. Once you have created your file and saved it as a PDF, go to the site and check Yes under “Include Foil.” You’ll then upload the foil file. Easy as that!
